Dr Phyu P Aung is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pathology at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center (UT-MDACC). Dr. Aung earned her Medical Degree from the Institute of Medicine of Rangoon. She received her Ph.D. in Molecular Pathology from Hiroshima University School of Medicine in Japan. Subsequently she completed a research fellowship at Cleveland Clinic, OH. Dr. Aung then completed her residency in Anatomic Pathology at the National Cancer Institute/NIH, MD, where she served as Chief Resident, and after this, she completed her fellowship in Dermatopathology at Boston Medical Center. Following her training, Dr. Aung joined the faculty at UT-MDACC in 2014. Her work in Cancer biology and cutaneous lesions has resulted in more than 130 original publications in peer reviewed journals, eight book chapters and approximately 200 poster/platform presentations at national (USA) and international conferences. Dr. Aung is an active member/ the Executive Committee of multiple Pathology and Dermatopathology Societies. Special interests include melanocytic neoplasms, Merkel cell carcinoma and molecular advancement of diagnostic Dermatopathology. Dr. Aung is also the director of the Oncologic Surgical Pathology Fellowship Program with 14 fellows at UTMDACC. She is a very passionate teacher and has mentored multiple national and international residents, fellows and practicing physicians.
